Reprioritize
How to Choose What Deserves Your Energy
There comes a point in every year, usually around November when life begins to feel heavier than usual. The lists get longer. The days feel shorter. And in between the to-do’s, the deadlines and the quiet weight of expectations, something inside us begins to whisper: I can’t keep doing it all.
That whisper is clarity trying to get your attention.
1. The Myth of More
We live in a world that glorifies “more.” More productivity, more progress, more doing. But the truth is, clarity often begins with less.
When everything matters, nothing truly does.
We say yes to things because we don’t want to disappoint. We overcommit because we believe movement equals growth. But sometimes, movement is just noise.
Reprioritizing is an act of rebellion against the myth of more. It’s not about slowing down to a stop, it’s about moving intentionally toward what matters most.
2. The Courage to Pause
Pausing doesn’t always come naturally, especially if you’re used to being the one who keeps everything together. But here’s the truth: you can’t pour from an overflowing schedule.
When you pause, you create breathing room, not only for yourself... but for what’s trying to find you next.
Think of it like pruning a plant. You don’t cut branches to make it smaller, you cut them to help it grow stronger.
Every time you pause something that no longer aligns with your priorities, you’re giving your best energy a chance to flourish.
3. The Keep / Pause Practice
Here’s a practical way to reprioritize this week.
Draw two columns on a page:
| KEEP | PAUSE |
|---|---|
| What matters | What drains you |
Then, take your time to fill each side:
KEEP:
-
Projects or habits that align with your purpose.
-
Routines that ground or energize you.
-
People who pour into you, not deplete you.
PAUSE:
-
Commitments that feel heavy without reward.
-
Conversations or environments that leave you anxious.
-
Expectations that don’t belong to you anymore.
It’s not about erasing everything in your Pause column. Sometimes pausing is temporary, a way to create space to breathe and re-evaluate.
4. Protecting What You Keep
Once you know what to keep, you need to protect it.
Set boundaries around your time. Communicate clearly. Guard your mornings or evenings if that’s when your creativity lives.
And when guilt creeps in (because it will), remind yourself... saying no to one thing is saying yes to something better aligned.
5. Preparing for What’s Next
Reprioritizing is about alignment, it ensures that your 2026 begins with clarity. As you work through this week’s reflection, let the Keep / Pause exercise help you see where your energy actually belongs.
Because you don’t need to do more to have a meaningful year. You just need to do what matters most and do it well.
💭 Gentle Reflection Prompts:
-
What am I currently giving my energy to that no longer serves me?
-
What one thing deserves more of my attention right now?
-
What would happen if I gave myself permission to pause?
✨ Affirmation for the Week:
“I am free to pause, to protect my peace and to choose what truly matters.”
